The 8 kW and 12 kW figures are interpolated between the more commonly quoted 6, 8 and 10 kW tiers, since sellers list those sizes less often. Why two "6kW systems" can cost so differently
- Panel tier: Tier-1 N-Type panels (LONGi, AIKO, Jinko, Canadian Solar) run roughly Rs 40–45 per watt depending on technology; budget panels sit lower but with shorter warranties and faster degradation.
- Inverter brand and warranty: a 5–6kW hybrid inverter ranges from under Rs 100,000 for entry-level units to Rs 250,000+ for premium Tier-1 brands with longer warranties and better monitoring.
- Battery chemistry and capacity: lithium (LiFePO4) costs more upfront than lead-acid or tubular but lasts far longer in daily cycling — the battery alone is often 20–30% of a hybrid system's total cost.
- Structure and installation: a standard L-frame roof mount costs less than an elevated steel structure, and installation plus wiring typically adds Rs 30,000–70,000 depending on system size and roof access.
- Net billing / prosumer application: the DISCO application, meter and documentation for a grid-tied system adds a separate line item, commonly Rs 100,000–150,000.
What's moving prices right now
Pakistan shifted from net metering to net billing under the Prosumer Regulations 2026, which took effect in February 2026 — this changed the buyback rate for exported electricity, not the upfront system cost, but it does change your payback period math. Separately, proposed GST changes on imported solar equipment have periodically driven short-term price spikes as dealers adjust stock ahead of budget announcements. Rupee depreciation against the dollar also feeds directly into panel, inverter and battery prices, since nearly all of it is imported equipment.
